The Berlitz Language Centre in Birmingham was taken over as a franchise by the "UK
Languagecentres Ltd." in April 2000. Since then, the company grew steadily, adding the Berlitz Centre in Edinburgh (2001) to the franchise and opening Centres in Bristol (2002) and Oxford (2003).

The "Caledonian Society" in Prague was set up by British expatriates to promote Scottish culture and to provide a link between British and Czech nationals. The "Caledonian Society" organised weekly events (Scottish country dancing) as well as annual events (Wine-tasting trips to Moravia, "Caledonian Ball", "Burns Supper", "Highland Games"). Dancers from the "Caledonian Society" were regularly invited to participate in Celtic Festivals and St. Patrick's Day celebrations all over the Czech Republic.

The Service Civil International is a volunteer organisation which organises international youth work camps in Europe and overseas. The project assignments range from social, ecological work to restoration
of public buildings and assistance to documentation centres of former concentration camps.

sport, cultural and other free-time events.
- Instigated campaign finding appropriate sponsors, securing necessary funding of projects, launched public
relation campaigns.
Since 1994 I have been in charge of the organisation of international youth work camps in Germany as well as running
them on the behalf of the "Service Civil International". I was responsible for every aspect in the preparation of the camps (obtaining sponsorship, securing accommodation and sanitary facilities etc.). During the camps I organised and monitored excursions to surrounding localities, study-programmes (inviting speakers to present seminars on various topics) and free-time activities (ranging from doing all kinds of sports and games to going shopping, visiting the cinema, restaurants etc.). I was also responsible for public relation campaigns, promoting both the "Service Civil International" as well as the specific projects, resulting in coverage by regional and national newspapers, radio and television. |
